Hi, I’m Carrie (CL-Emily3224), the Community Leader
for the Expecting to Expect Message Board at Pregnancy & Parenting at iVillage.
I’m writing because you recently posted on our board,
and I wanted to welcome you, and give you some tips and info to make your experience with us as enjoyable as possible.
Whether you are just starting out on your TTC (trying to
conceive) journey, or have you been trying for a while now, we look forward to getting to know you and supporting you on this
journey.
What does LOL mean, anyway:
On iVillage’s message boards, you’ll see a
lot of abbreviations. Some of the most common are:
LOL – laughing out loud
DH – darling, dear husband
DS – darling, dear son
DD – darling, dear daughter
DSD – darling, dear stepdaughter
DSS – darling, dear stepson
ROFL – rolling on the floor laughing
LMBO – laughing my butt off
BTDT – been there, done that
OMG – oh my gosh
BTW – by the way
KWIM – know what I mean?
GMTA – great minds think alike
You may see some others. If you wonder what they mean,
don't hesitate to ask! Also, here's a link to a list of commonly used online acronyms and abbreviations.

Netiquette:
We expect other drivers to observe the rules of the road
and the same is true as we travel through cyberspace. Here are a few pointers to help you out:
Avoid writing e-mail messages or posting in newsgroups
using all caps.
IT LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE SHOUTING!
Remember that anything you post to our message board is
public. You never know who's reading it, or who may copy it and spread it around. Don’t put your real name, address,
phone number, etc. in your messages.
Folders:
Our message boards have folders. These folders are like
message boards within the message board. You will see that there are four folders on our board. They are:
The Watercooler -- this is where
you can post a general "Hi, how are you?" or update us about your cycle or whatever is going on in your life, reach out to
another member or talk about what you ate for dinner or watched on TV last night. Just everyday conversation, plus the usual
TTC talk.
Welcome Wagon/Introductions -- this
is a special place for new members to check in and introduce themselves. We love having new people join the board!
Daily Status -- this is a folder
where we keep track of cycle stats for those members who request to be involved. Usually a member will have a link to a webchart
that displays their updated cycle info, and I automatically update their cycle status, based on the info provided by the webchart,
but it is possible for me to update a members info without a webchart -- I just need to know the day your cycle starts and
be updated of any significant cycle changes, such as ovulation, a positive home pregnancy test or the start of a new
cycle, along the way by the member, either via a post on the board or via a private email. My email address is CL_Emily3224_A@yahoo.com
Grads, Brags and Websites -- this
is the place where the grads of E2E can pop in and give updates on their pregnancies and their families. It's also a place
to put any kind of brags, from your puppies antics to an award you won or something funny your child did. We also like to
see members post their websites and website updates here if they have them, so we can place a name with a face.
Explore iVillage -- This is the folder where other CL's from
around iVillage are welcome to post invitations to their boards & chats - and occasionally
CL's from the E2E board may post news from iVillage in this folder, as well.
